The ARCA Mentorship Programme just ended

The ARCA Mentorship Programme, a free training course focused on fashion, circularity, and social impact, successfully concluded in early July 2024. Launched in May, the programme brought together three talented emerging fashion designers selected through the ARCA Open Call (meet Adaobim, Laura, and Magda on our Designers page) alongside an impressive lineup of teachers, project partners, and special guest speakers.

The mentorship unfolded through a series of engaging online interactive sessions. Here, the designers were able to deepen their expertise and refine their skills, all while contributing to the creation of a more sustainable and equitable fashion ecosystem. Key themes explored during the programme included circularity, inclusion in fashion, and social impact, with in-depth discussions covering areas such as modularity, digitalization, and more.

During the programme, the three designers began working on the Agender Circular Capsule Wardrobe, a collaborative project that will be further refined in partnership with Lantoki and unveiled at an international exhibition in Italy in 2025. This innovative collection will not only be freely replicable but will also serve as a practical model of sustainable fashion design. The collection will be published as an open-source resource, complete with a dedicated tutorial to guide others in recreating the designs.

To ensure the feasibility and replicability of the collection, a hands-on sewing workshop will be held in Spain in the coming months. This workshop aims to rigorously test the designs, ensuring that the ARCA Mentorship Programme leaves a lasting, impactful legacy in the world of fashion.

The collection and tutorial will be published right here on our website, so stay tuned for updates!

ARCA is funded under the Creative Europe Programme and is promoted by baumhaus (IT), specialising in innovative learning practices; @lantoki (SPA), a slow fashion SME offering training courses and digital patterns; and @circular.berlin (GER), a non-profit focused on circular economy, with a unit in Fashion and Textiles.
